Welcome
There are many fears and misunderstandings about the use of hypnosis, all of them completely undeserved. Hypnotherapy is very relaxing and can help significantly with a variety of troubles.

It is a very natural and normal state of being, and contrary to what you sometimes see in films and on TV, it does not involve any sleep or dreamy trances. In fact, when you are in hypnosis, you are fully aware of your surroundings and remain in control of your actions, your mind fully focused.

Hypnosis has been in use since the ancient civilizations of Greece and Rome, and has existed under different names throughout the ages. Franz Anton Mesmer, (as in “mesmerism”) was a great healer, giving relief from symptoms for thousands using a form of hypnosis, back in the 18th Century. In the 19th Century, some surgeons used hypnosis to achieve anaesthesia, achieving outstanding results.

Modern hypnotherapy seeks to work alongside modern medicine as a complimentary therapy, not an alternative. There are many conditions that can be helped by hypnotherapy while you continue to consult your G.P. But there are also many conditions for which you would not necessarily consult a doctor – phobias, confidence-boosting etc. where hypnotherapy may be the answer.
